• • • DAY 1 – Jumbo Junction:

      Your safari begins the moment you arrive at Jumbo Junction Base Camp. Feel your heartbeat quicken as you meet your horse for an introductory ride, ready to carry you into the vast floodplains. Day 1 is all about getting acquainted with your horse, building trust and confidence as you settle into the rhythm of safari life together.

      Jumbo is surrounded by water, so Day 1 is very much a wet ride — expect to get wet! Splash through channels and floodplains as you and your horse begin your adventure through the Delta. And wherever there is an open stretch and a gap for a canter, we will most certainly take it!

      Let the serenity of the Delta envelop you as the sun dips, painting the sky in fiery oranges and purples. Gather around the crackling fire, toast marshmallows, and breathe in the night sounds of the wilderness — a magical introduction to life in the Delta.

      For guests arriving too late for their introductory ride, don’t worry! You’ll have the opportunity to get acquainted with your horse on the morning of Day 2 before setting off on your adventure into the Delta.

      DAY 2 – Into the Heart of the Delta:

      Mount your horse and depart from Jumbo Junction, venturing deeper into the untouched heart of the Delta on a wonderfully wet ride. Splash through winding channels and shimmering floodplains as your horse carries you across this extraordinary wilderness. Expect to encounter zebra, countless hippos wallowing in the waterways, herds of red lechwe bounding effortlessly through the water, and if luck is on our side, elephants moving silently through the reeds. The birdlife is equally spectacular, with fish eagles calling overhead and colourful species around every corner.

      Wherever the landscape opens up and the footing allows, exhilarating canters across the floodplains await. This is riding at its wildest and most freeing.

      If you somehow managed not to get completely soaked during the ride in, don’t get too comfortable — camp is only about 100 metres from one of our favourite swimming spots. Most guests arrive at camp absolutely drenched, laughing, exhilarated, and already completely in love with the Delta.

      Arrive in time for lunch at our secluded Island Camp, where for the next three nights you will be immersed in pure wilderness. After lunch, enjoy a well-deserved siesta while soaking in the peace of the Delta — the distant grunts of hippos, birds calling overhead, and the gentle sounds of the bush all around you.

      For the afternoon, the suggested activity is a mokoro excursion. Glide silently through the lily-covered channels and floodplains as the golden afternoon light settles over the water, offering a completely different perspective of this magical wilderness. Along the way, stop to enjoy sundowners while watching the sun slowly set over the Delta — a truly unforgettable safari experience.

      DAY 3 – Exploring the Wild Heart of the Delta:

      Wake up in the very heart of the Delta, surrounded by the sounds of the wilderness coming to life. As the first light spills across the floodplains and mist rises from the water, saddle up for another unforgettable day in paradise.

      Today’s ride offers a completely different feel to the previous days. The terrain becomes drier, opening into beautiful grasslands and long stretches of thick Kalahari sand — perfect for exciting canters and flowing riding. While there are still refreshing water crossings and channels to enjoy along the way, today is less about getting soaked and more about covering ground through spectacular wilderness.

      Wildlife encounters are always full of surprises. Expect to see elephants moving through the bush, hippos in the remaining waterways, zebra, giraffe, wildebeest, buffalo, and a wonderful variety of antelope and birdlife. On one of our previous safaris, we were even fortunate enough to discover a fresh leopard kill — a thrilling reminder that every ride in the Delta is completely unique.

      The morning ride lasts approximately 4–5 hours, with breakfast served out in the bush beneath the shade of a tree while the horses rest nearby and the wilderness stretches endlessly around you.

      Return to camp in time for lunch and a chance to relax during the heat of the afternoon.

      In the late afternoon, depart on an exciting game drive that slowly transitions into a thrilling night drive as darkness falls over the Delta. Explore the wilderness as the bush changes from day to night, with opportunities to encounter everything from elephants and buffalo to nocturnal predators and smaller creatures rarely seen during daylight hours.

      Dinner will be enjoyed out in the bush beneath the stars, surrounded by the sounds of the African night — a truly unforgettable safari experience. As spotlights scan the darkness for glowing eyes and movement in the reeds, the Delta takes on an entirely different atmosphere after sunset.

      Return to camp at around 11pm beneath a sky overflowing with stars, after an evening filled with adventure, incredible sightings, and the magic of the wild at night.

      DAY 4 – Deeper into the Delta:

      Another magical morning awaits as the Delta slowly awakens around you. Saddle up once again for a morning ride into the vast wilderness, exploring even further into this extraordinary landscape where every turn offers something new to discover.

      Today’s ride continues through beautiful open grasslands, winding animal paths, and hidden pockets of water, with endless opportunities for incredible wildlife encounters. No two rides are ever the same in the Delta, and the excitement lies in never knowing what may be waiting around the next bend.

      Breakfast is once again enjoyed out in the bush beneath the shade of a tree, surrounded by the sounds of nature and the peaceful presence of your horses nearby — one of the simple yet unforgettable pleasures of safari life.

      Return to camp in time for lunch, followed by a relaxing siesta during the warmest part of the day. Listen to the distant calls of fish eagles, the splash of hippos nearby, and the gentle rustle of the Delta as camp settles into the afternoon calm.

      For the afternoon, the suggested activity is a boat cruise. Cruise through the winding channels as the golden light reflects off the water, passing lily-covered lagoons, grazing lechwe, colourful birdlife, and perhaps even elephants crossing the waterways. Keep a lookout for crocodiles resting along the banks or silently gliding beneath the surface as you explore deeper into this extraordinary aquatic wilderness. Sundowners enjoyed on the water as the sun sets over the Delta create the perfect ending to another unforgettable day in paradise.

      DAY 5 – Farewell to the Delta:

      Your final morning in the Delta begins with yet another spectacular ride through this extraordinary wilderness. Saddle up for one last adventure as the early morning light spills across the floodplains and the bush slowly comes alive around you. There is always more to discover, more tracks to follow, and more unforgettable moments waiting around the next corner.

      Breakfast is once again enjoyed out in the bush beneath the shade of a tree, with the horses nearby and the sounds of the wilderness all around you — the perfect way to soak up every last moment of safari life.

      Return to camp in time for lunch, followed by a short siesta before preparing for the journey back to Jumbo Junction.

      And the ride home starts off with a bang! Before heading back, we take one final swim through the channels, making sure everyone is thoroughly soaked one last time. From there, enjoy a wonderfully wet and relaxed ride back through the Delta, taking in the beauty of the waterways, open floodplains, and incredible scenery that has surrounded you over the past few days.

      Arrive back at Jumbo Junction in time for a hot shower, a delicious dinner, and an evening around the campfire sharing stories, laughter, and memories from an unforgettable adventure deep in the heart of the Okavango Delta.

      DAY 6 – Farewell:
      Savor a final breakfast surrounded by the sights and sounds of the wild before returning to everyday life—forever changed.
